My Work: What do you feel is the most successful element of the work? Why? I feel that getting the shade of the trees to the left and the bridge next to the brightness of the sun on the pond and trees to the right is the most successful element of my work. It creates contrast and value which is why I chose this picture. I liked how the different values in the picture came out. It goes from dark to light across the picture. What do you think could be improved or changed about the work? Why? I would change the angle just a little so we can see more of the bridge. I would also try to get rid of the trees to the far right in the background because I feel they are not needed. I like that the bridge is in the picture and want to see more of it. What drew you to the subject of the work? Why? I used the subject in my work because I like how parts of pictures can be dark and the values can change to the other parts of the picture into lighter values. I wanted those types of pictures from Mill Pond, and here was the best spot.
1st person's Work: What do you feel is the most successful element of the work? Why? The most successful element of Cole's picture is how he has the left side without color and the right side with color. This is the first picture I have seen like that. I like when people try new things. I get to see new things because of it. What do you think could be improved or changed about the work? Why? I would see if the values of the photo need change. From the distance I am at right now, I can't tell if Cole changed the values or left them alone. I use a lot of dodge and burn so I definitely would use those to change the picture.
2nd person's Work: What do you feel is the most successful element of the work? Why? I feel that the most successful element of the picture with different colored flowers is that the flowers are different colors. One is pink while another is purple. They are not all one color. I feel that just one color for all the similar objects is dull. I like to see many different colors when looking at pictures. What do you think could be improved or changed about the work? Why?
I would improve the depth of the picture. I would like to see what is outside of the picture for more of a view. Just showing one part of a larger scene seems like a letdown for me. I want to see the whole picture and all of its beauty.
